Here's the make-believe limousine for the night.
I'm starting to fall in love with Audi, shall work hard in the future and hopefully buy one on my own.
My picturesque corsage, love how all the colours go together. Specially pre-ordered, and first time receiving live flowers. *beams*
Now, it's all dried up and wrinkly!
Upon early arrival, there's only one obligatory act that all girls should do at a formal event.
It's still early, so time to sip on some yummy fruit punch that the waiters were serving at the lounge area outside the ballroom.
I was contemplating whether should I wear my mum's long black gown for prom for quite a number of days before deciding to go with it, was quite reluctant at first since I was worried I'll be overdressed (how wrongly proven was I). My final decision was propelled with the fact that my mum will be so happy seeing me wearing her dress, and also I'm broke :).
I barely spent at all for this prom. I learned to do my hair from youtube and shoes was a pair of black stilettos I bought two years ago for college prom but didn't wear it in the end (walking in it was an arduous task). Oh, and can't resist to mention this, got free BB cream sample from Skin Food so I used it as well :)
Driver and date for the night!
I can't believe I put my life in the hands of this driver. This is the person that lost his first P license from forgetting to renew it after it expired for a year, thus voided (Yes, he drove for a year with an expired license). His second P license expired as well a few weeks back which he realised in time and drove to JPJ to renew it, a day before prom. However, he drove for two days with an expired license and without a P sticker on the car windscreen, by some dumb luck that there's no road block.
The design of the ballroom was very dreamy-like, fitting the theme to a T.
And there's purple smoke spewing everywhere.
This was undoubtedly my favourite picture of the night!
Perfect lighting.
Our table - no. 52 situated right at the back, directly in front of the sound system.
Pui Mun is the girl reaching for the tealight candles in the picture. She's the one that told me to make full use of my height and wear a long gown, cause not many people get the chance to do so *insert giant grin*.
The highlight of the prom, the food! To start with, some bread (looks more like a potato) with butter. I asked for it for two more times after my initial one cause I was beyond famished.
And I was an uncouth sight while eating the bread. My brain was deprived of glucose so I proceeded to dip the whole bread in butter and just bite like a wild savage beast. Other people were slowly cutting the bread into fine dainty pieces and spread the butter on it before using a fork to eat.
Finally, the meal officially begun, and I was in agony seeing other tables being served way before us. Lesson of the day: Book your prom table earlier.
Cream of wild mushroom with truffle whipped cream.
Very rich and creamy.
Brine supreme chicken breast, with chorizo sausages and spanish risotto, mushroom and duck liver quenelles, and herbs cress. Fancy name indeed.
The chicken breast was nice, perfectly seasoned and very tender. The duck liver, which I'm curious as to why they don't just name it foie gras (probably it's not force-fed), was awful. I spit it out within one bite, it's soft and mushy and taste like brain (as what I imagine brain would taste like). The spanish risotto was not to my liking as well, tasted queer. Sigh, maybe my taste buds are just not meant for eating any gourmet delicacies.
Passion fruit cheesecake with passion fruit coulis.
Passion fruit and cheese, who would have thought this combination goes so well together? Mmm.
When the intense passage of edible substances down the oesophagus was done, time to fool around with my camera at the escalator!
Tons of effort had been put in to capture this moment, it required stability and precision of the photographer and all the models had to go up and down the escalator a few times. Not an easy feat.
The dance floor was open to the public upon coronation of the prom king and queen. So, this is me attempting to make a fool out of myself and pretending to pose for a slow dance for the sake of a picture.
I can't dance to save my life, dead serious about this.
A picture with my ex-college classmates. 0801APM1, you shall remain a legacy.
Batch photo, ME209!
I'm at the top right hand corner, just slightly below that area :)
Since JW Marriott Hotel is just right across Pavilion, we headed there to search for our very own cool afterparty, which sadly was nothing but a flop. We sat at Starbucks for a few minutes, then declared it to be too boring and left. Our alternative was a mamak store, and it's definitely the first time anyone ever dressed so grand there.
I was sitting down cause at this point, my feet were screaming in pain for mercy already. After this picture, I decided to just walk on concrete pavement barefooted, felt much better.
